Hospice at Home West Cumbria has a long established, specialist Lymphoedema service which provides assessment, delivers appropriate treatments and supports and advises patients, their families and carers. We are the only providers of specialist Lymphoedema services in West Cumbria.
What Can We Offer?
Comprehensive assessment by our team of specialist nurses.
Tailored treatment package according to the needs of the patient. This would include:
- Compression garments
- Skin care
- Advice on exercise
- Intermittent pneumatic compression therapy
- Ongoing advice and support to patients, families and their carers

Where Is The Care Provided?
Lymphoedema clinics are held in West Cumberland Hospital, and our Therapy, Resource and Information Centre at 10 Finkle Street, Workington.
Home visits can be arranged when necessary for housebound and/or palliative patients.
We also see patients in Residential Homes, and the acute hospital if required.
How Do I Access The Service?
Referrals to our Lymphoedema service can be made through:
- Clinical Nurse Specialists in Palliative Care
- Community Nurses
- Any other healthcare professional involved in your care
When a patient is referred to Lymphoedema Services there is an initial assessment undertaken which will identify appropriate treatment options.
What Is The Cost?
Lymphoedema services are provided FREE of charge.
Items required via prescription may involve a prescription charge.
