Hospice without walls
Over the years, Hospice at Home West Cumbria has become affectionately known as the “hospice without walls”. We continue to provide services traditionally found in a hospice building in people’s homes and their local community. This includes home nursing, specialist lymphoedema care and family and bereavement support.
Home nursing
Home nursing has always been at the heart of Hospice at Home West Cumbria. Our team of dedicated nurses work tirelessly to deliver the best possible care and provide access to the most appropriate support and advice.
Support at home service
The aim of the support at home service is to facilitate a person’s discharge from hospital and prevent hospital admissions where possible. We provide a high standard of essential care and emotional support for people with a life-limiting condition.
Family and bereavement services
Our team provides a range of services to patients, carers, and their families. These services are available both before and after bereavement. We can help with coping, loss, grief, and bereavement. Our highly qualified staff and volunteers support patients, carers, and families by providing complementary therapies, one-to-one sessions and group support.
Lymphoedema care
Hospice at Home West Cumbria has a long-established, specialist lymphoedema service which provides assessment, delivers appropriate treatments and supports and advises patients, their families and carers. We are the only providers of specialist lymphoedema services in West Cumbria.
Complementary therapies
Our Complementary Therapists work with palliative patients, including those at end of their life, and their family members as carers and into bereavement. Patients are seen at home, hospital or our therapy centre in Workington. Our Complementary Therapists are qualified and have significant experience in their field of expertise. They work with a range of symptoms including stress, pain, low mood, sleep issues, nausea and anxiety.
