One in four people we care for is thanks to Gifts in Wills.

We feel incredibly privileged to provide care and support for local people and their families who are facing a life-limiting illness. We often hear how the support they received from Hospice at Home West Cumbria has gone far beyond their expectations, helping them to manage in situations the never thought they could cope with. As well as easing pain and relieving symptoms, we have shown compassion, treated them as individuals and helped them to maintain dignity when it mattered most.

How you can make a lasting difference

A gift in your Will can help us continue to provide the best palliative and end of life care for patients and their families. Thanks to the gifts people have left us in their Wills we have been able to recruit more nurses, develop our services and ensure our teams are trained to deliver first class care. Every single gift we receive, no matter how large or small, helps to make a real difference to people in West Cumbria.

We understand that when making your Will you’ll want to make sure those closest to you are looked after following your death. But it also offers an opportunity to include a cause close to your heart, and by supporting Hospice at Home West Cumbria, you can help to safeguard our services for generations to come.

All our services are completely free for those with life limiting illnesses, but every year we need to raise over £1.5m to help the people of West Cumbria. However you choose to support us, you can be sure that Hospice at Home West Cumbria will benefit fully from your gift because tax is not payable on charitable donations.

If you have already included a gift in your Will to Hospice at Home West Cumbria, or are planning to, we’d love to hear from you. It means we can thank you for your generosity in pledging your support for our future and help us with financial planning.

Types of Gifts

There are many ways you can leave a gift to Hospice at Home West Cumbria in your Will:

  • A Residuary Gift This is a gift of part or all of your estate once your family has been cared for and debts and expenses paid. This is the most valuable type of gift for Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
  • A Pecuniary Gift This is a fixed sum of money.
  • A Specific Gift This can be anything from a property, holdings, shares or a piece of jewellery.

We wanted the local community to benefit from our estate, as well as ensuring we provided for our families. We chose Hospice at Home West Cumbria because it is a charity which is run locally and brings essential services to people across West Cumbria. Anyone can leave a gift in their Will to Hospice at Home West Cumbria, it’s not only for people with large estates or property. We feel a sense of comfort and pride knowing that our legacy will help to support people facing the toughest of times.
