Carried out by our team of specialist nurses

Hospice at Home West Cumbria has a long-established specialist lymphoedema service which provides assessments, delivers appropriate treatments and supports and advises palliative and non-palliative patients, their families and carers. We are the only providers of specialist adult lymphoedema services in West Cumbria. Comprehensive assessments are carried out by our highly experienced team of nurses and tailored treatment packages are offered according to the needs of the patient to promote self-management.

The lymphoedema service, provided by Hospice at Home West Cumbria, provides treatments for both cancer, and non-cancer related oedemas.

This could include:

  • compression garments

  • skin care guidance

  • advice and support on choosing a healthy lifestyle

  • the use of specialist technology to provide targeted treatment.

Where is the care provided?

Lymphoedema clinics are held in West Cumberland Hospital, Cockermouth Community Hospital and our Therapy and Information Centre at 10 Finkle Street, Workington. Home visits can be arranged when necessary for housebound and/or palliative patients. We also see patients in residential homes, and the acute hospital if required.

I would like to say that the advice and help I have received from the Lymphoedema nurses has been second to none, they are brilliant, kind and most helpful. They treat me with respect and as if I am a member of their family, so thank you most sincerely to you all. They make me so at ease with myself.
