Hospice at Home West Cumbria Launches “Give a Gift of Care” Christmas Campaign
As the UK heads into one of the busiest shopping periods of the year, Hospice at Home West Cumbria is calling on the public to pause, reflect, and choose compassion over consumerism. Today, the hospice charity launches its “Give a Gift of Care” Christmas campaign, encouraging individuals to donate in place of traditional gifts—helping provide vital hospice care for patients and families living in West Cumbria.
While Black Friday focuses on discounts and deals, the charity hopes the community will consider the true meaning of giving by supporting their local hospice charity. Every donation made through the campaign goes directly towards providing home nursing, emotional support, and comfort for people at the end of life, as well as their loved ones during an incredibly difficult time.
A gift that truly matters
£20 could help fund one of our bereavement sessions for patients, carers and their families.
£25 could pay for an hour of overnight palliative nursing care so patients can sleep safely.
£50 could give an afternoon of respite care so carers can have a much-needed break.
£190 could pay for a whole night of compassionate one-to-one nursing care.
Holly Harkness, Community Fundraising Co-ordinator at Hospice at Home West Cumbria, said:
At a time when the world is focused on buying more for less, we’re asking people to think differently about what a meaningful gift really is. A donation to our hospice helps families share precious moments, often their last Christmas together, surrounded by care, warmth and dignity. By giving a Gift of Care, you’re not just making a donation—you’re helping create memories that families will treasure forever.
Supporters can donate in memory of friends or family members—making their gift meaningful, sustainable, and impactful. The charity provides personalised certificates for each donation, so donors can let their loved ones know that a gift has been made on their behalf.
The campaign will run throughout November and December, with the last date to make your gift for the certificate to be received via post being the 17th December.
