Hospice at Home West Cumbria rated 'good' following recent inspection
Hospice at Home West Cumbria is proud to announce that we have been rated as ‘good’ following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in August 2025.
The report, published on 24th October 2025, highlights key areas of quality in the services we provide across the five care domains: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-led. This achievement reflects the high standards of care provided by Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
The inspectors spoke with staff, volunteers, service users, and family members, and looked at health care records and a range of policies, procedures and other documents relating to the running of the services.
A total of 34 quality statements were tested and the report highlighted areas of excellent care:
- In assessing how staff respond to people’s immediate needs, the inspectors found evidence showing an exceptional standard. “The service was exceptional in how they listened to and understood people’s needs, views and wishes. Staff responded to people’s needs in the moment and acted to minimise any discomfort, concern or distress.”
- The inspectors also reported an exceptional standard in enabling people to get help when they need it. “The service was exceptional at ensuring people could access the care, support and treatment they needed when they needed it.”
