Hospice at Home West Cumbria receives £150,000 grant from Sellafield Ltd.
We were honoured that representatives of our charity were recently invited to attend a special Carers Reception at Windsor Castle, hosted by Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
The reception celebrated the extraordinary contribution of carers and organisations across the United Kingdom who provide vital support to individuals and families in their time of greatest need. As a charity dedicated to delivering compassionate end of life care in patients’ own homes across West Cumbria, we was privileged to represent the region at this prestigious national event.
His Majesty The King, who serves as Patron to our charity, has long been a supporter of hospice and palliative care services. The invitation to attend the reception was a significant recognition of the dedication and impact of our clinical teams, staff and volunteers.
Representing the organisation at the event was Lorraine Dixon, Director of Clinical Services, who reflected on the occasion:
It was an incredible honour to attend the Carers Reception at Windsor Castle and to represent our dedicated nursing teams, support staff and volunteers. Every day, our colleagues provide compassionate care to patients and families facing the most difficult of times. To see that work recognised at a national level by His Majesty, our Patron, was both humbling and uplifting. It truly shines a light on the importance of hospice care delivered at home.
Mark Sarrington, Community Champion Volunteer, Lindsay Hipkin, Healthcare Assistant, Joanna South, Volunteer, and Lorraine Dixon, had the opportunity to meet Their Majesties and connect with fellow carers and healthcare professionals from across the country, sharing experiences and celebrating the vital role that community-based care plays in supporting the NHS and local communities.
Photographs from the event include moments with King Charles III and Queen Camilla, marking a memorable and proud occasion for the charity.
