Hospice at Home West Cumbria has received a generous donation of £7,899 thanks to a nomination by NFU Mutual’s Cockermouth Agency.

The funding comes from NFU Mutual’s national £2.33 million Agency Giving Fund, which supports frontline charities across the UK.

Now in its sixth year, the Agency Giving Fund is part of NFU Mutual’s wider £4 million charitable pledge for 2025, aimed at supporting both local and national organisations that provide essential services in rural communities.

With over 280 offices nationwide, NFU Mutual empowers its agencies to nominate charities that make a meaningful impact in their local areas. The Cockermouth team chose to support Hospice at Home West Cumbria in recognition of the charity’s vital work supporting patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses.

David Jones, Agent at NFU Mutual’s Cockermouth Agency, commented: “We’re extremely proud to have nominated Hospice at Home West Cumbria for this donation and are delighted to support the vital contribution they make to our community. The purpose of NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund is to support local frontline charities who are providing essential services to people in our community, and our agency felt that Hospice at Home West Cumbria was a very deserving cause to champion.”

The donation will help the us to continue our mission of delivering compassionate, high-quality care to those in need across West Cumbria.

Jessica Woolaghan, Partnerships and Fundraising Coordinator at Hospice at Home West Cumbria, added: “We are incredibly grateful to have been chosen by NFU Mutual’s Cockermouth Agency to receive this generous donation. We would like to thank David and the team, as well as NFU Mutual nationally, for their support. A donation of this size could provide over 40 whole nights of dedicated one-to-one home nursing care for a patient at the end of their life, and this will make a huge difference to families across West Cumbria.”
