From afternoon teas to zip wires there are lots of ways to have fun and raise money for your local hospice.

Abseil
Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or a first-time thrill-seeker, an abseiling event is an unforgettable challenge.
Set up a fundraising page and gather pledges for your daring descent, all in support of a good cause. Be sure to consult expert guides before attempting an abseiling adventure.
Archery competition
Check out The Weapons Hall at Muncaster Castle to try your hand at this ancient combat.
Art exhibition
Display some local art with entry fees going to your local hospice charity.
Auction
Why not sell some of your unwanted goods at one of the local auction houses, such as Mitchell’s in Cockermouth, and donate the proceeds to your local hospice charity?
Bad tie day
Bring £1 along with your bad tie to your workplace, with prizes for the worst.
Bag packing
Contact your local supermarket to organise a bag packing day, asking for donations from the shoppers you help.
Bake sale
Everyone loves a cuppa and a cake, so get together with friends, family, or colleagues to enjoy some delicious treats.
Battle of the bands
Enjoy some live music as bands battle it out to win, with donations coming from entry tickets.
Bingo
Why not get your friends and family together for a game of Bingo, the winner takes half the prize money and the rest goes to Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
Car wash
A sponsored car wash is a great way to get your car sparkling clean while also donating to a local charity.
Casino night
Casino night fundraisers may seem complicated, but they’re actually fairly simple. Attendees make a donation to gain access to the event, and they’re given a set amount of chips. These chips don’t represent real money - you can even create custom chips that attendees can take home as a souvenir.
Christmas carol concert
Christmas is the time of giving so why not get into the festive spirit with a carol concert, taking donations for your local hospice charity.
Cocktail night
Gather friends and family to enjoy a tipple, who will makes the best/worst cocktails?
Coffee morning
Everyone loves a cuppa and a cake, so get together with friends, family, or colleagues to enjoy some delicious treats.
Cycling event
Complete one of the many cycling routes in our area, such as the C2C, or set yourself your own cycling challenge, raising money through sponsorship.
Dance-a-thon

Egg decorating competition
Get into the Easter spirit to see who can decorate their egg the best (or worst!), with funds being raised through entry fees for the competition.
Eighties night
Put on your dancing shoes to boogie the night away to hits from the 1980s with family and friends at your 80s charity night.

Knitting
If you’re a keen knitter, why not join one of our craft groups, creating Easter and Christmas knits to be sold in local businesses for donations to Hospice at Home West Cumbria. We can also sell your knitted goods in our retail shops, such as cosy cardigans or colourful blankets, and may also gift these to our patients in need.
Luncheon
Get together with friends, family or neighbours to host a special lunch in aid of Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
Marathon
Channel our very own Vice President, ‘Marathon Man’ Gary McKee, by tackling 26.2 miles in the name of your local hospice charity.
Music evening
Enjoy an evening of music, whether this be classical, punk rock, pop, country, indie – whatever you fancy!
Name the teddy
£1 a go to guess the name of the teddy, with the winner getting to keep the cuddly bear as their prize.
Non-uniform day
Whether at work or at school, bring in £1 for your non-uniform day to donate to your local hospice charity.
Online giving

Open garden
Open your garden to your local community to get together to share your gardening tips, enjoy a cuppa and cake, and hopefully some sunshine, all while raising money for Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

Get out and about in the Lake District to enjoy some of the beauty on our doorstep with a sponsored open water swim.
Pamper party
Host a pamper party with friends and family, enjoying some quality relaxation time in the name of your local hospice charity. If you know someone who is receiving our care, this would be a lovely way to get them involved in your fundraising while also letting them enjoy some well-deserved relaxation.
Penalty shoot-out competition
Who’s got the skills to win the golden boot? Challenge your friends to a penalty shoot-out competition, with the champion winning bragging rights - until the rematch at least!
Plant sale
Grow your own flowers or vegetables and sell these to your neighbours for a donation – why not have a go at growing some sunflowers?
Quiz night
Battle it out with friends, family or colleagues to be crowned ‘Quizmaster’, testing your general knowledge and specialist subjects. The winner takes half the prize money and the rest goes to Hospice at Home West Cumbria!
Raffle
This is a great way to get people involved in your fundraising by offering them the chance to win a prize in return for their donation. Contact local businesses to let them know about your raffle and see if they would be willing to donate a prize in support of Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
Read-a-thon
Calling all bookworms! Challenge yourself to a sponsored read-a-thon, setting a target for how many books to read within a certain time – this could be 24-hours, a month, or even a year, if you think you’ve got what it takes.
Running
Set your own running challenge or sign up for a place in an organised running event such as The AJ Bell Great North Run. We are allocated charity places for the Great North Run each year, so get in touch with us if you would like to enquire about a place.
Skydive
Reach new heights with your fundraising with a skydive! We have teamed up with Skydive Northwest https://skydivenorthwest.co.uk/i/charity-skydive/hospice-at-home/ ) to offer you an exciting way to support us while also achieving something spectacular. Maybe this is something you’ve always wanted to tick off your bucket list, or perhaps you’d like to step out of your comfort zone in memory of a loved one.
Sponsored silence
Are you a renowned chatterbox? Challenge yourself to a sponsored silence for an hour or even 24-hours if you think you’ve got what it takes!
Swear box
Are you guilty of the odd naughty word slipping out? Set up a swear box at home or work, popping a few coins in every time you slip up, then donate these to Hospice at Home West Cumbria at the end of the year.
Sweepstake
Organise a sweepstake at work to get involved in any upcoming sporting events, with the winner keeping half of the prize fund and the other half being donated to Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
Talent show
Showcase your special talents with a talent show, whether this be singing, dancing, magic tricks, stand up comedy – a fun way to get everyone involved in your fundraising.
Tombola
Set up a tombola stall at work, school or a community group, giving your supporters the chance to win prizes if they match the ticket number on the prize.
Triathlon
Test yourself with the ultimate endurance challenge while raising sponsor money. You could sign up to one of the organised events taking place in Cumbria each year, such as The Lakesman, held in Keswick every June.
Tuck shop
Set up a tuck shop at work, school or a community group, asking for a donation when anyone picks up some chocolate or sweets.
Ugly shirt night
Proudly don the ugliest shirt you can find while getting together with friends, family or colleagues to raise money for your local hospice charity.
Vintage fayre
Host a vintage fayre in your local community with tabletop sales of treasures from days gone by.
Volleyball tournament
Organise a volleyball tournament to test your sporting skills while raising some money. Don’t fancy volleyball? Why not try handball, netball, football, rugby, golf – the possibilities are endless!
Walk
Set off on a sponsored walk for Hospice at Home West Cumbria, enjoying a day out on the fells or along our beautiful coastline.
Wax it
Brave the wax strip by undergoing a sponsored wax at one of the many beauty salons in our area – we have Solo Beauty Salon just next door to our Therapy and Information Centre in Workington, so would be happy to come along with some words of encouragement!
Wedding favours
If you’re celebrating your special day soon, why not consider our wedding favours? All we ask is for a donation to be made in return for one of our pin badges or sunflowers for each of your guests. Please contact our fundraising team on: 01900 873173.
Who’s the baby?
Dig out the baby photos for this fun quiz, guessing who’s who from the photos of their younger days. A great one to play in the office, each entry is £1 with the winner taking half the prize fund and the rest being donated to Hospice at Home West Cumbria.
World record attempt
Can you stand on one leg whilst blindfolded (currently 2 hours 21 minutes) or break the record for the most star jumps to be completed in one minute (currently 77). If you think you’ve got what it takes, why not give a world record attempt a go while raising sponsor money.
X-Factor competition
Channel your inner pop superstar with an X-Factor competition where people can pay to enter with the money raised going towards Hospice at Home West Cumbria, with prizes for the best (and worst!) entries as you all enjoy an evening of music.
Yo-yo competition
Think you’ve got the skills to become yo-yo champion? Have a go at this fun competition at school or at work.
Yoga-a-thon
Come together with like-minded individuals for a Yoga-thon, doing as much or as little as you like over a set time period to raise money for your local hospice charity.
Zip Wires
Get your adrenaline flowing by taking on a sponsored zip wire challenge – why not try the Zip Trekking adventure at Go Ape Grizedale, or head along to Zip World Windermere to feel the thrill of their Treetop Drop.
