Here we have written frequently asked questions about Gift Aid.
If you have any questions that are not on the list below, please contact us on: 01900 873173 and we will do our best to help you.
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a government scheme that allows charities to reclaim the basic rate tax you pay as a UK taxpayer.
It means that we can claim 25p of tax for every £1 you donate at no extra cost to you. All you need to do is make a Gift Aid declaration.
Who is eligible for Gift Aid?
To be eligible, you must be a UK taxpayer who has paid enough tax during the tax year to cover the amount the charity can reclaim on your donations.
How do I add Gift Aid to my donation?
If you are a UK taxpayer, you are eligible to authorise a registered charity to reclaim tax by completing a Gift Aid declaration. Which means we can claim back from the government 25p for every £1 donation made to Hospice at Home West Cumbria at no extra cost to you. This additional income can make a huge difference to us, bringing us closer to our £1.5 million yearly target we need to raise to be able to continue to provide our specialist and end of life care across West Cumbria.
There are three ways to claim Gift Aid on your donation, you can:
Tick the Gift Aid box on the donation form.
Print or download our Gift Aid form and email it to info@hhwc.org.uk.
Call us on 01900 873173 and make a claim over the phone.
It is important we keep our Retail Gift Aid records up to date therefore you need to inform us of any changes. If you stop paying tax (e.g. you stop working) it is vital that you let us know so that we can stop claiming Gift Aid. It is also important that you inform us of any changes of address or contact details as we have to be able to contact you about Gift Aid donations.
