What is Hospice Care Week?
Hospice Care Week is a national campaign created by Hospice UK. For one week in October, Hospice Care Week shines a spotlight on all the brilliant hospices, and their amazing staff.
We know our local communities do incredible things to support our services – from donating to shops, to running marathons. But Hospice at Home West Cumbria needs to raise 1.4million in fundraising in order for our services to continue.
And right now, that government funding is falling short. For the first time ever, more funding has been raised by hospices’ own retail than has been given to them by the state. We don't think that’s right.
This year, Hospice Care Week takes place from 7 - 13 October 2024. This year’s theme will be all about hospice retail, and the role it plays in funding hospice services. We’ll be celebrating the brilliant contribution of hospice shops to what we do – and highlighting to governments why they should do more.
We are going to be in Workington town centre on Monday 7th October from 10am - 2pm to help raise awareness about the funding we require to maintain our services in the local community. Please come and say hello and we will answer any questions you may have.
