Hospice at Home West Cumbria (HHWC) is one of more than 200 charitable hospices across the UK taking part in Hospice Care Week (10 – 14 October) an awareness campaign led by the national hospice and end of life care charity, Hospice UK.

As part of Hospice Care Week, today we are exploring the role of one of our incredible volunteer Receptionists, Karen Brew who has shared what her day to day shift involves.

“In my role as a volunteer receptionist, I am the first point of contact for everyone who enters our Head Office and Therapy and Information Centre. I enjoy this because I meet some lovely people, and assist them with appointments, or any enquiries they have.

I am very organised and every day I make sure that all the rooms in the building are clean and tidy and check that we’ve supplies for meetings and appointments.

My duties also include making appointments, answering emails, helping staff with franking, and answering calls.”

We are currently in the process of recruiting a new reception volunteer, if you would like to find out more; please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator on 01900 873173 or info@hhwc.org.uk
