Light up a Life has been an important part of the Hospice at Home West Cumbria calendar for over 12 years, providing an opportunity for people across the county to come together and remember their loved ones.

This year, after two years of virtual services, we are proud to offer a physical service. The Light up a Life service will take place on Sunday 4th December at 3pm at the following locations:

  • St Michaels Church, Workington, CA14 2EZ
  • St James’ Church, Whitehaven, CA28 7PY
  • Holy Trinity Church, Millom, LA18 5EY

The Light up a Life services will include readings from hospice staff and volunteers and choir performances from The Carnegie Singers, Whitehaven Male Voice Choir and Phoenix Singers. There will be moments of reflection and the switching on of the hospice Christmas tree lights to mark the dedications made in memory of loved ones.

Communications Co-ordinator, Ellie Mcmillan said “Our Light up a Life service is for everyone, not just those who have received our care. Across our county, different people, cultures, and faiths have ways to remember loved ones, all different but all with their roots in memory and the importance of not forgetting those we knew and loved. We know how important Light up a Life is for many people, and we hope that our service provides some comfort to those who need it.”

If you would like to dedicate a light at one of the Light up a Life services Click here, or you can request a dedication form at info@hhwc.org.uk.

All dedication forms must be returned by Friday 2nd December, but dedications made after this date will be available to view on our website if requested.
