Lee Butterworth, owner of Xtreme Fitness gym in Workington, has been a long-time supporter of Hospice at Home West Cumbria and along with his team has been involved in many of our fundraising events over the years.

Lee decided that despite the lockdown, he wanted to continue to support Hospice at Home West Cumbria while we are unable to hold our usual fundraising events.

Lee said “Hospice is a very easy charity to raise money for locally and that’s down to the care the fabulous nurses provide to families, which so many people have had experience of”

Over the weekend of 16th and 17th May, Lee, along with his team held a weekend focusing on everything from training and nutrition, changing your mindset, and taking those first steps towards a fitness journey.

The weekend included guest speakers and fitness demos, all streamed lived through their Facebook page. Speakers included Jamie Alderton, who is one of the top Body Transformation Coaches in the UK, who lived streamed from Chichester.

Alongside this a huge raffle was held, with over 60 fantastic prizes to be won, donated from organisations and individuals all over West Cumbria. People were able to purchase raffle tickets ahead of the event, via the Xtreme Fitness Just Giving page and there were over 1,800 entries into the raffle!

Lee said, “As well as people wanting to support Hospice due to the amazing work they do, the quality of the prizes in the raffle were also a great incentive for people to buy tickets whilst making a donation”

Lee drew the raffle on the Sunday evening via Facebook livestream and due to the number of entries and the number of prizes; it took a hour and a half to get through!

Lee’s determined efforts paid off and they have raised an incredible £7,160 so far.

Lee said, “It’s was fantastic total, and way over my original £5,000 target, but there was no way now that I wasn’t going to get over £7,000! I did another social media post offering some freebies if people made a donation. I’m also getting some t-shirts made that will have the Hospice and Xtreme Fitness logos on one side and commemorating the NHS nurses as superheroes on the other side which we will sell. This money will also be added to the total!”

We want to say a huge thank you to Lee and the team for their ongoing support, and to everyone involved in making the weekend such a success.
