Seaton Village U13s football team are a newly merged team this season and while they’re unable to play together at the moment, they wanted to do something together to keep in touch, keep fit and raise money for Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

The players decided to set themselves a challenge to complete 30 miles a week, for 2 weeks, by walking, running or cycling, to raise sponsorship which will then be split between their club, to go towards a new kit, and Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

Members of the team, parents and coaches have had family and friends who have been touched by the support of Hospice at Home West Cumbria over the years.

The teams coach Paul O’Leary said “I witnessed first-hand the wonderful work that Hospice at Home West Cumbria provided for my wife’s parents at different times. This wasn’t just for the patient but for the family as well, in a loving, caring way. There is nothing more special to help motivate players and family to fundraise for such a good cause. Our players will take pride in being able to help others by raising funds to help”.

The team have been giving their all to complete their challenge, and have all managed to each get their first 30 miles in in the first week!

Here are some pictures of what some of the team have been up to:

Aisha Sandwith completed a 22 mile bike ride with her Mum.

Jay Frew did 23 miles above his target! He cycled to play golf with his Dad, walked round the golf course and then biked home.

Luke Sandelands was the first player to achieve his goal of 30 miles – well done Luke!

Kyle O’Leary and his Dad Paul completed an 11 mile bike ride with the whole family.

Keylan McKenna has been out every day either on his bike or walking and has thrown himself into his challenge and really put a huge effort in.

We would like to say a huge WELL DONE for completing the first week of their challenge, and thank the full team for their support. We wish them the best of luck for their next 30 mile challenge this week!

The team are over half way towards their £1000 target! It’s not too late to show your support by making a donation to their Go Fund Me page HERE
