Five school children have raised money for Hospice Home West Cumbria by making loom band bracelets and selling them to family and friends at Seaton Junior School.

Aimee, Ava, Erin, Olivia and Sophie who are all in year 5, decided to fundraise for Hospice at Home West Cumbria after being part of their School Choir which sang at the charity’s Light up a Life service at the Helena Thompson Museum last November.

The girls spent hours of their own time making the bracelets and held a sale at school so other children and parents could buy the colourful bands. The school sent a text out to let parents know that the money raised was supporting Hospice at Home West Cumbria, and the girls sold their stock of over 100 bracelets within two days raising £103.50.

Headteacher Amanda Dickinson said: “We are really proud that our children take the initiative to do things like this.  We have some super citizens of the future!

Aimee….., aged 9 said: “We attended the Light up a Life Service last year with our school choir and listened to all the help that is provided by Hospice at Home and decided it is a charity we would love to support”.

Gemma Bell Fundraiser for Hospice at Home said: “We would like to say a huge thank you and well done to Aimee, Ava, Erin, Olivia and Sophie for their efforts in fundraising for our charity, this is such a selfless thing to do and we are so grateful that they have chosen to support our charity at such a young age.  They should be very proud of themselves. Thank you to everyone who supported the girl’s fundraising efforts.”
