Rebecca Moody, from Harrington, Workington, took up photography as a hobby a few years ago and discovered a talent for portrait photography.

Rebecca decided to set up website and Instagram pages to promote her business ‘Rebecca Rodney Photography’” and when she’s not working as a teacher at St Joseph’s School in Workington or teaching dance lessons, she offers her photography services for family portraits, new-born photography and weddings.

Since lockdown started, although Rebecca has been in and out of school at various times, she decided she wanted to use her time at home, and her skills to offer doorstep photography to her neighbours, friends and their families in Harrington, in return for a donation to Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

Rebecca said “I wanted to make use of my time during lock down and make good use of my allowed daily exercise. I’d seen other photographers doing it nationally and it seemed like such a nice idea and something positive for people at this difficult time.  I decided that over a 2 week period I would get out about locally in Harrington and take photos, asking people to donate what they could to my Just Giving page I set myself a target of £100 as I didn’t really know what to expect.   As people started sharing their photos on social media, more people started getting in touch and I decided to take it further afield and cover all of Salterbeck as well. I advertised on social media which streets I would be on and a rough time and families came out onto their doorsteps and then they were able to download their images”

Rebecca added “Hospice at Home West Cumbria is a cause very close to me and my family after the gave amazing care given to my Nana, and of course the much appreciated support to the family.  I was shocked when I hit the £1,000 mark and there’s no way I could have imagined passing £2,000!  I’m delighted that the page is currently at £2,055.  This project has also ensured that I’ve kept fit and I’ve walked over 30 miles over the ten day period, mostly in lovely weather but there has been some grim times!”

We are so grateful to Rebecca for her support. Here are just some of the lovely photos she has taken.
