This week we are proud to promote National Complementary Therapy week and on the last day of this week we would like to introduce you to the fourth member of our Complementary Therapy team, Lilian Wigham. Lilian has volunteered for Hospice at Home West Cumbria for five years, and here shares an insight into the kind of therapies she offers.
“My name is Lilian Wigham and I am a volunteer Complementary Therapist with Hospice at Home West Cumbria. I class myself as a holistic therapist, using ancient therapies from India and China with more modern therapies, which all incorporate acupressure to some degree. Acupressure plays a huge role in my treatments no matter what treatment I’m giving. Reflexology and head massage are typical acupressure treatments. So, as holism goes, I’d like to share this quote with you.”
‘The care of a part should not be attempted without treatment of the whole.
No attempt should be made to cure the body without the soul.
Therefore if the head and body are to be healthy, you must first begin by the mind. That is the first thing.
Let no one persuade you to cure the head until he has first given you his soul to be cured…’
