We would like to congratulate Rev’d Ian Grainger from Seaton for raising a fantastic £600 on a sponsored walk.
Ian has always been heavily involved in fundraising events over the years, raising funds for local and national charities and churches. This year he reached the milestone of 30 years of full-time ordained ministry and decided to celebrate this with a fundraising event to give something back to the church and charity.
On Saturday 2nd July, Ian set off from Carlisle Cathedral (where he was ordained in 1992) and walked back to Seaton in two stages (along the coast to Bowness on Solway and then from Silloth to Seaton). A total of 30 miles, done in 8.5 hours! A HUGE achievement!
Ian said, “The main reason I chose Hospice at Home West Cumbria is because unfortunately I often meet families who have been helped by the charity and knowing the huge costs involved in the work you do, I wanted to help and raise money for the church at the same time.
