To support charities across the UK, eBay has recently launched ‘eBay’s Big Charity Sell’ to encourage charity supporters across the UK to sell their items on the site, with the option to donate up to 100% of the proceeds to their chosen cause.

While our charity shops have had to close and our events are unable to go ahead, what better way to raise money for Hospice at Home West Cumbria than from the comfort of your own home?

The campaign urges sellers to declutter and list their unwanted items, opting to donate between 10%- 100% of the proceeds to the charity of their choice.  The seller will then receive that percentage reduction in fees. Charities are not charged any fees to receive funds, allowing more money to be raised.

Data released by eBay UK reveals that people’s garages hold the most high-value items for sale, including kids’ bicycles, camping tents, fitness equipment and more. In a survey carried out by eBay UK, almost half the people they surveyed admitted to binning items they no longer need and an estimated £51 million worth of unwanted items are going to waste per year.

Last year, eBay’s buyers and sellers raised more than £27 million for charity organisations and the online marketplace aims for its new campaign to spark ever greater fundraising efforts this year.
