Here at Hospice at Home West Cumbria, we would like to say a MASSIVE well done to Dean Morgan from Whitehaven who cycled the 140-mile-long Coast to Coast route and then ran the 13.1 mile Great North Run on the same Day!

Dean set off from Whitehaven at 12am on 12th September cycling the Coast-to-Coast route with 5 friends, then shortly after ran the Great North Run in an incredible 1hr and 57 minutes.

This phenomenal challenge Dean completed was in memory of his uncle, Martin Ennis, known to many as Chucky, who sadly passed away earlier this year. Chucky was a keen sportsman himself and was a huge inspiration to Dean.

Dean was fundraising for two local charities, Hospice at Home West Cumbria and Team Evie and has raised an incredible grand total of £4,800 which was split between them both.

Hospice at Home West Cumbria cared for Chucky in the last few weeks before he passed away. Dean said “I myself seen first hand how good the quality of care was for Martin, and this is the reason that Claire (Martin’s wife) and myself choose to give something back to Hospice at Home West Cumbria. I am so proud of how much has been raised and how generous people have been. It just shows how much people thought of Martin as a person and how much they appreciate Hospice at Home West Cumbria”

We are incredibly grateful to receive such a fantastic donation, which will help us continue to deliver our vital services across West Cumbria.

Ellie Mcmillan, Communications Co-ordinator said “This challenge completed by Dean is absolutely fantastic and a huge achievement. It is so heart-warming seeing the support of our local community. Well done Dean and all involved.”
