Today is International Volunteers Day. Across the world people are recognising and thanking all the volunteers for the positive difference they make to our world. We want to join that world wide cheer and celebrate the incredible people who volunteer with us at Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

Our volunteers are priceless to us, we wouldn’t be able to operate without them. We have volunteers working in every part of our charity: working in our shops and collecting donations in our van; guiding us as part of our board of trustees; crafting items to sell to raise funds; supporting people as part of our Family and Bereavement Service; giving complementary therapies and offering administrative support. Our fundraising volunteers who help at events we organise or plan and run their own events and are tireless and every one of them is an ambassador for our charity. ” says Julie Monk, Chief Executive of Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

Over 200 people volunteer for Hospice all giving their time and skills to  support us. They come from all walks of life from Maryport to Millom. Volunteering for charities like ours gives people personal satisfaction. We become part of their story as they become part of ours. Our volunteers take time out of their busy lives to help our organisation support others. People often come to us as volunteers to give their time as a way of saying thank you for the work we do. When they join us they find a supportive community of people and friendship.

Recognising them on International Volunteers Day is one of the ways we can thank them for their contribution.  Whatever they do to support us each one of these roles are extremely important to us and we wouldn’t be able to keep the charity running without you. We would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU, for all of your time, commitment and support.
