We would like to say a huge thank you to Joanna Hadfield and the members of Cockermouth Golf Club for their recent donation of £570 to support Hospice at Home West Cumbria. Are you in a Good Place to Die? – Dying Matters Awareness Week 2021

Dying Matters Awareness Week is a national campaign to break the stigma, challenge preconceptions and normalise public openness about death, dying and bereavement. This year’s focus of the campaign is the importance of being ‘in a good place to die.’ There is no right or wrong place to die; it will be different for everyone. But it is important for families to think about it, to talk about it and to plan for it.

Hospice Health Care Assistant Natalie Elliot helps to promote Dying Matters Week

Dying Matters Awareness Week is a national campaign to break the stigma, challenge preconceptions and normalise public openness about death, dying and bereavement. The focus of the 2021 campaign is the importance of being ‘in a good place to die.’ We would like to share a story from Natalie Elliot who joined our Home Nursing team in December 2020. Natalie was drawn to hospice care after supporting a close family friend through her end of life journey, and has shared this story to help us highlight the importance of talking to people about our final plans and wishes.
