Buttermere Valley Buttermere
Join us for our second Buttermere Horseshoe Challenge on Saturday 12th September 2020
Led by the knowledgeable and enthusiastic Lakeland Mountain Guides, you will enjoy a fully guided, challenging fell walk of the epic Buttermere Horseshoe.
You can enter as an individual or as a team and there are two route options available; the Full Horseshoe and the Half Horseshoe Challenge
The FULL Horseshoe Challenge takes in no less than 8 peaks, totalling 1400m ascent and 12.5 miles walked. This tough route takes the 'high road' around the head of the beautiful Buttermere Valley. Starting at Red Pike, and continuing over High Stile, High Crag, Scarth Gap, Haystacks, Fleetwith Pike, Dale Head, then Hindscarth before the descent from Robinson through Buttermere Moss.
The HALF Horseshoe Challenge takes in no less than 4 peaks, totalling 875m ascent and 6.5 miles walked. On this route you will complete what is traditionally known as the 'Buttermere Skyline'. The hardest part of this challenge is the first ascent onto Red Pike, then continuing on to High Stile, High Crag, Scarth Gap and Haystacks before descending to the finish at Honister Pass.
Please note: this is a sponsored event to raise vital funds for our cause. Whilst we do not ask for a minimum sponsorship amount, we do ask that by entering, you will raise sponsorship for Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

Teams OF UP TO 10 PEOPLE CAN ENTER
This event is fully guided. Unless you book as a team of 10 you will be placed with other individual sign ups. The team will stick together throughout the challenge and the aim is to complete the route, rather than complete it in the fastest time.
