Sam’s Story

We would like to thank Sam for his unwavering support and dedication to our cause that will ensure that our nurses continue providing palliative care in the West Cumbrian community and enable people to spend their last days at home with their loved ones.

Sam Nodal – age 9

In March 2015, my Aunty Val passed away after fighting a long illness. During the latter part of her fight, West Cumbria Hospice at Home were a great source of support and comfort to her. Her appreciation of this was shown by the legacy she left to them.

I made a promise to her, to add to the legacy by raising money for West Cumbria Hospice by climbing Scafell Pike. I achieved this in August 2016, (aged 8) raising over £500. Having already climbed Snowdon when I was 6, it is now my aim to do similar this year but by climbing Ben Nevis, again for Hospice. When I have achieved, this I would have climbed all 3 peaks before the age of 10. Hospice provided valuable and needed support to my Aunty Val, without them her journey would have been very different.
