Family and Bereavement Services

Family & Bereavement Services

Hospice at Home West Cumbria provides a range of therapeutic services to patients, carers and their families. These services are available both before and after bereavement. Our care and support can be accessed in the home as well as in community locations across West Cumbria. All aspects of our Family & Bereavement support services are provided by a team of fully trained staff and volunteers.

Services include:

One-to-one support

One-to-one support is available for patients, carers, family members and those bereaved. It offers people a safe place to talk and reflect with someone outside their immediate family or friends. It is available to help people with the emotional demands of living with a diagnosis of a life limiting illness and can relieve the distress associated with loss and grief.

Group support

We have support groups available for patients, carers, family members and those bereaved. Groups offer a safe, confidential, inclusive and supportive environment for members to give and receive emotional support. Practical information, advice and coping strategies are also shared.

Complementary Therapies

Complementary therapies can help relieve stress, tension, sleeplessness, anxiety and aid relaxation. Anyone wishing to receive treatment will be fully assessed before the sessions begin. Services include therapeutic massage, reflexology, Indian head massage, reiki and breathing & relaxation.
