SUNSET SHOWDOWN FOR HOSPICE AT HOME WEST CUMBRIA

Over 300 people attended a boxing event on Saturday 17th June at Stanwix Holiday Park, Silloth to help raise funds and awareness for local charity Hospice at Home West Cumbria.

The event which raised £1521.47 for the charity was organised by Adrian Kirkbride who coaches Maryports Nemesis Boxing Club and owns Bricktop Promotions.

The first bell sounded and the show started the way it continued throughout the afternoon as boxers of both corners went toe to toe hoping to do enough to have their arm raised after the final bell.

The overall winner of the evening went as planned and it was Hospice at Home West Cumbria. Many of the ticketholders didn’t know much about the charity and the services it provides to the people of West Cumbria but thanks to Hospice at Home West Cumbria’s Home Nursing Team Leader Jenny Kennedy, who spoke to everyone about the charity, everyone knew more of the much-needed service by the time the final bell was sounded, which ended what was an electric event.

Adrian Kirkbride of Nemesis Boxing Club said:

“I’d like to thank my wife Michele and her team for all their help on the day. The management of Stanwix Holiday Park for providing an awesome venue again, all the boxers and coaching staff of both corners, Nemesis Boxing Club’s loyal support, and all the businesses who sponsor the club and to those who donated prizes and auction items which included Decca Heggie’s signed ‘Prizefighter’ autobiography and also a signed Tony Bellew boxing glove. Without all your support we wouldn’t have raised such a great amount for a fantastic local charity.”

Stella Walsh, Fundraiser for HHWC said:

“We’d like to thank Adrian and everyone involved in raising this money for Hospice at Home West Cumbria. It is support from local people such as Adrian and his supporters, that enables us continue to provide our services across the West Cumbrian community free of charge to patients and their families suffering from a life limiting illness.”
