Hospice at Home West Cumbria (HHWC) is an amazing local charity which I have a personal connection with as they cared for my Granda Bill. In the last six months of his life, my Granda spent a lot of his time in the hospital. Around Christmas time he got his wish and was able to spend some time at home with the family. However, it was soon clear that he needed care all through the night and that’s when the excellent care from HHWC’s nurses was invaluable for the family, in particular for my gran.
My Granda had a great sense of humour and would speak and joke with anyone who was willing to listen. The nurses treated him with respect and dignity but always had time to make his day with a chat and a joke. As a way to show my appreciation for the amazing staff at #HHWC I will be running the Great North Run in memory of Granda Bill, in the hope of raising some money to help HHWC continue their crucial work.
