Fundraising Ideas

Community Support is vital to the work of Hospice at Home West Cumbria and we are very appreciative of the kindness and generosity shown by the local community.

We love to hear about our supporters and the events you are planning. Please let us know about your event so that we can support you every step of the way.

8 Steps to Fundraising Success

1. Make sure time is on your side

Before you set the date for your event, or start planning your activity, make sure you’ve allowed yourself enough time to get everything sorted. Remember the further in advance you plan your event the more chance people will have the date free in their diaries.

2. Set your target

How much are you hoping to raise? We find that the most successful fundraisers have something to work towards. This also encourages others to give generously helping you reach your goal.

3. Tell all

Make sure your friends, family and supporters know what you’re doing and ask them to spread the word via social media etc. If you have personal reasons to support our cause let them know, it will really help motivate them to get involved. Don’t forget to let us know what you’re up to so we can tell everyone we know.

4. Extra, extra, read all about it

Make sure your local press know what you’re up to. They can be very helpful in getting the word out there and celebrating in your success.

5. Go digital

Set up an online Just Giving fundraising page via: https://www.justgiving.com/westcumbria

Forget all the hassle of chasing people for their sponsorship pledges. This tool allows your supporters to sponsor you online and the money comes straight to us.

6. Get more for your money

Use Gift Aid and you can make your fundraising worth more. For every £1 that is given, we get an extra 25p from the Inland Revenue. To qualify for Gift Aid, what the donor pays in Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax must be equal to or greater than the total amount that will be reclaimed on all the donations they plan to make in the year. Get in touch for more information.

7. Let us help

Our fundraising team are experts in raising money and we are always on hand to help. Whether it’s providing collection buckets, organising volunteers to help out on the day or getting in touch with the local press, the team are available to support you in reaching your milestones. Just give us a call on 01900 873173 or drop us an email at: fundraising@hhwc.org.uk

8. Stay safe

Whatever activity or event you’re involved in make sure that it is safe and legal. We care about you and your safety. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this give us a call.
