Who We Are

Every year Hospice at Home West Cumbria needs to raise over £1.2 million. Every penny helps us to care for hundreds of local people each year.

Hospice at Home West Cumbria, established in 1987, was founded by Cockermouth GP Dr Brian Herd, a group of nurses and nurse managers all working locally in West Cumbria. Now, with over 65 employees, 37 clinical volunteers and 3 main locations, it provides a vast range of Hospice care and support to patients, families and carers.

COSTINGS
EMOTIONAL SUPPORT – £54 will give a family member confidential one-to-one support with our bereavement support team. Many people find it beneficial to talk to others who are outside their immediate family to explore and express thoughts and feelings.

Home Nursing – £50 is the cost to us for providing one of our specialist hospice nurses to give palliative care in a patient?s home for an hour.

£450 will cover the cost for one of our specialist hospice nurses to stay through the night and provide
end of life care for a dying patient.

Complementary Therapies – £50 will pay for a relaxing complementary therapy, which may help to ease patient?s symptoms.

Lymphoedema Care – £75 will pay for a treatment session with one of our specialist lymphoedema nurses at our Finkle Street treatment centre.
